Post Doctoral Position - Frederick, MD

Education required: Doctorate degree from an accredited college/university in a discipline related to biomedical research. Foreign educated candidates who have completed part or all of their education outside of the United States must have their foreign education evaluated by an SAIC-approved accrediting organization to assure that it has met the equivalency of the qualifications of degree work in the United States. Prefer Doctorate degree in Proteomics and Molecular Biology/Chemistry/Cell Biology/Pharmacology.

Description/Basic Function: Research will focus on the application of proteomics to the elucidation of cancer drug mechanism of action within the Drug Mechanism Group (DMG) of the Developmental Therapeutics Program (DTP). Primary responsibilities include design and execution of proteomic strategies (2D-PAGE, organellar isolation, SILAC, immunoprecipitation, affinity chromatography) to identify pathways and proteins modulated by treatment with novel cancer agents followed by validation of results using classical cellular and molecular validation techniques.

Required skills/Experience: None required beyond the educational requirement. Experience with classical cellular and molecular validation techniques. This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance.

Desired skills: Experience in the operation and maintenance of LCQ/LTQ mass spectrometer preferred. Publications in proteomics, drug discovery or cancer biology preferred.

Proteomics Specialist Position - Baltimore, MD

We are seeking innovative and highly motivated mass spectrometrists or liquid chromatographers to join the Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Facility at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Baltimore, MD. The successful candidates will develop and apply state-of-the-art proteomics approaches to identify, quantify and characterize proteins and their modifications in samples submitted by Hopkins investigators. Duties will include the operation of ThermoFisher LTQ Velos Orbitrap, LTQ-ETD, vMALDI-LTQ, ABI MALDI-TOF and QSTAR, and Agilent and Eksigent 1D and 2D nanoLC systems.

PhDs preferred but Masters degree or higher in biology, chemistry or related experience is required. Two years experience with protein or peptide separation and analysis by liquid chromatography, two-dimensional gel electrophoresis or mass spectrometry is required.

Proteomics/Metabolomics Sales Specialist - Mid Atlantic Region

Responsibilities. Responsible for selling LC-MS, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS and other Life Science Product Solutions to the NIH and NCI. Candidate must be able to match Agilent's Life Science portfolio to the customers' analytical requirements. This specialist will interact with key LC-MS thought leaders in the NIH and NCI. Coordinating the interactions of key personnel at Agilent with these leaders is part of the responsibilities of this job. Driving relationships at the NIH and NCI Mass Spec Interest Groups and leading activities in these areas is a key activity driven by the successful candidate. Demonstrating Agilent instruments and software as well as helping the customer with method development are key in this role. Project management planning skills important. Additional Responsibilities include seminar development and presentations, funnel and forecast management and method development assistance.

Education, Experience, and Knowledge Requirements. A BS/MS or PhD degree in Chemistry or a Life Sciences discipline, or equivalent is required along with highly effective communication skills. Direct sales experience is a plus. Application expertise should include proteomics/metabolomic and biomarker identification by LC-MS/MS. Incumbent must be comfortable interfacing with senior managers within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
